Emotion Karting

A design of a new website for a go-kart track in Bytom – made out of liking for the track, in dark and light versions, with a sporty edge.

  • WordPress
  • Gutenberg

For now the design is HTML, CSS and JS – it will move to WordPress when the track agrees to change the website. The code is private.

  • 2themes – dark and light, like in my portfolio
  • 4views – home page, news, a single post and a version with animations
  • 6animations I would keep – tyre marks, a stats counter, karts driving in and more
  • 3typefaces served from the site – Barlow, Barlow Condensed and JetBrains Mono, no Google Fonts

What I built

I like go-karting, and I have been to the Emotion Karting track in Bytom many times. When I was looking for go-karts for a company event, I went to their website and saw that some elements did not load. I know a few people there, so out of pure liking I prepared a design of a new website – in case they want to move – and I suggested optimisation for Google, like on ReblyX. I wanted to keep the sporty edge of the track, and I think it worked.

Main features

  • A sporty feel – strong typography, orange accents and tyre marks in the background
  • Two themes – dark and light, like in my portfolio, so everyone can choose what suits them
  • Price list, karting school and news – with separate views for the post list and a single post
  • A version with animations: tyre marks that draw themselves, a stats counter, karts driving in and sections that slide in – only the start lights in the hero I would not keep
  • Animations turn off when someone has reduced motion on in their system (prefers-reduced-motion)
  • Fonts served from the site, no Google Fonts
